Many believe the SAT is only useful for applying to universities in the United States. But that is no longer the case! A strong SAT score is a powerful international asset that opens doors to top English-taught programs at world-class universities in the Netherlands.

1. University Colleges
These are prestigious, highly selective international colleges within major Dutch universities, operating on the Liberal Arts and Sciences model. They are the most welcoming toward the SAT:

  • Erasmus University College (EUC) (Rotterdam): Officially accepts the SAT (requires an overall score ≥ 1100, with ≥ 550 in Math) as an alternative to certain entrance requirements or AP exams.
  • Amsterdam University College (AUC) (Amsterdam): Reviews SAT scores as a substantial addition to your academic profile.
  • Leiden University College The Hague (LUC) (The Hague) & University College Utrecht (UCU) (Utrecht): Enthusiastically consider high standardized test scores during their holistic admissions process.

2. Business, Economics, and Social Sciences
For highly competitive English-taught programs (Numerus Fixus), where thousands of international students compete for limited spots, the SAT can be your golden ticket:

  • Erasmus University Rotterdam: The renowned Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) and the Erasmus School of Economics (ESE) actively accept SAT scores. A competitive score typically starts from 1170–1200+.
  • University of Amsterdam (UvA): For its flagship and ultra-selective PPLE program (Politics, Psychology, Law, and Economics), SAT results are formally recognized and highly valued by the admissions board.
  • University of Groningen: Several economics and international business programs accept the SAT (usually recommending scores from 1300+) to demonstrate your mathematical and academic readiness.
